Deadly Premonition Director Swery Announces New Game Called The Missing, Will “Blow Your Mind”

Swery Is Going to Be a Busy Man in 2018

Game Director Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro — known for the cult hit, Deadly Premonition — is making a new game called The Missing. It will be developed by his own studio, White Owls, and will be published by Dragon Ball FighterZ studio, Arc System Works.

“The title ‘The Missing’ has many different meanings,” says Swery in the announcement video. “A missing person, someone who’s lost, or even something lost. Maybe it’s your loved one…or a place you belong. Do you ever feel lost in your everyday life? The Missing is for someone like you.”

Swery also thanks Arc System Works for the opportunity to “create something entirely new” and that The Missing “will blow your mind.” There isn’t much else to go on based on the announcement video other than a logo and some early footage of people walking and some scenic landscapes. But this is Swery we’re talking about, so you can probably expect the same level of weird and oddball elements compared to his previous works.

The Missing isn’t the only project the cult director is working on this year. After a failed Fig crowdfunding campaign for The Good Life — a strange RPG announced last year about townfolk that turns into cats at night– Swery is trying again on Kickstarter to raise funds in March. Both The Missing and The Good Life are being developed by White Owls.

Platforms and other details will be revealed at a later date. The Missing is scheduled for a 2018 release.
