The Master of Remasters Are Already Hard at Work
It appears that the incredible reception for the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 remake hasn’t slowed down its developer, Bluepoint Games. Thanks to various job listings on their website, it looks like the company is already “passionately at work remaking a classic for current-gen game systems.”
Judging from the number of available job openings, it seems that the studio is staffing up quite heavily. There are currently openings for VFX Artists, Lead Animator, 3D Character Artist, and more. Most of the descriptions include the same note about remaking a classic game that “millions of gamers are eagerly anticipating.” There are two different notes, both of which reads:
“The Bluepoint team is preparing for our next remake of a classic. Want to be part of creating something special, a game millions of gamers are eagerly anticipating?”
“We are passionately at work remaking a classic for current-gen game systems, growing our capabilities as a team and raising the bar for what fans anticipate from us.”
There really isn’t much else to go on here that can possibly tell us what this project could be. It is interesting though that the above note mentions them working on current-gen hardware. Bluepoint Games has typically been known for their work on PlayStation consoles. While Shadow of the Colossus is clearly their most ambitious project yet, Bluepoint Games has also released the God of War Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PS3.
The company has made a name for themselves — “the master of remasters” — for making quality ports and remakes of past games. Perhaps in the future, we may see the developer get the chance to create an original game.
What classic game is Bluepoint currently remaking? If you have some ideas, why not share them with us in the comments below?
