Lucky Gamer Finds Console in Another Country
A lost and found story is not a bad way to kick off the new year. Here’s the story of a man who lost his Nintendo Switch during his holiday travels and recovered it thanks to the power of Reddit.
In his original thread, Juan (pizzaboxmonster) detailed how he lost his Nintendo Switch. Between the gates at Frankfurt International Airport, Juan’s Nintendo Switch fell out of the bus. He didn’t even notice until he reached his plane headed for Madrid, Spain. Too late. Can you imagine having to sit on a three-hour flight after realizing you lost your game console? Juan did, and he spent it worrying about his game and save files. It must have been maddening.
Anyway, immediately upon returning home, Juan posted the aforementioned thread. While he himself mentioned a “0.000001%” of finding his Nintendo Switch, he was desperate for any sign, any hint of where it might be and who might have it. Sure enough, he received an immediate reply pointing him to a thread by itchybun, itchybun who apparently found a Nintendo Switch at the Frankfurt airport.
The two redditors immediately began a correspondence in which itchybun made pizzaboxmonster prove his ownership of the console. He did so by asking questions pertaining to the following: username, friend names, Joy-Con colors, wi-fi names, and the cartridge left inside. And Juan answered each question perfectly. Thus, the lamenting gamer was reunited with his Switch and updated his original Reddit thread:
“Today I love this community even more and especially that great user and person who decided that finding the owner would be more fun than just keeping it.”
Thanks to Kotaku and Gamerevolution.
