Play It Early at the Upcoming A Celebration of Harry Potter Event
Jam City has just dropped a teaser trailer, as well as fresh new details, for its upcoming mobile RPG, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. The game is still slated to release in Spring 2018 for iOS and Android.
As we reported last month, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will allow players the opportunity to create and experience life as their very own Hogwarts student. You’ll get to attend classes, learn magic spells, form relationships or rivalries with other students, and make crucial choices that will affect the game’s story. A new encounter system will impact the story based on the player’s decisions in both actions and narrative.
Harry Potter lore fanatics will be excited to know that the story is set between Harry’s birth and his enrollment at Hogwarts in the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Popular characters Bill Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks are apparently featured in the game.
The game will be playable at the upcoming A Celebration of Harry Potter event at Universal Studios from January 26th to the 28th. Attendees can check out two panels with the Jam City developers to get a behind the scenes look at the game. A booth will also be set up where fans play the game, get sweet swag, meet the game team, and “experience other magical surprises.”
“Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a role-playing experience about magic, friendship, and life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” said Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City. “We can’t wait to give fans a first look at the game at A Celebration of Harry Potter, and this spring players will be able to explore Hogwarts fully in their journey toward becoming a witch or wizard.”
The avatar customization system sounds quite robust as well and will let players continually upgrade their character as they gain experience and learn new magical skills. You can even choose your Hogwarts pet! Improving skills will also unlock new locations, spells, and other magical abilities.
