Oops, the Assassin’s Creed Origins DLC Released a Week Early

Xbox One Owners got Early Access

Assassin’s Creed Origins is available now and has been receiving all the post-game support players could want, and more according to a recent report. The new Hidden Ones story DLC is slated for release on January 23rd, yet a handful Xbox One players acquired access and are playing as we speak.

Assassin's Creed: Origins

The Hidden Ones story DLC comes with access to a new region, Sinai, and raises the level cap to 45. Furthermore, it brings new weapons, outfits, and mounts. While it wasn’t due until next week, an apparent “misconfiguration” with the in-game store allowed players to download the add-on one week early. This misconfiguration came about through the game’s latest patch.

The error has since been fixed by Ubisoft. In order to avoid screwing with player save files, however, the developer decided not to remove access from those who already downloaded the expansion. But they did humbly request that those few “Lucky Ones” not spoil content for the rest. Naturally, that didn’t stop Reddit users from posting pictures of Bayek’s new outfit. Ubisoft said the following in a statement to Kotaku:

“Earlier today, The Hidden Ones DLC was unintentionally made available early for some Xbox One players. We have removed the DLC from the game store, however, players who already downloaded the DLC are still able to play it. These players will now be known as “The Lucky Ones.” The Hidden Ones DLC will be available for all season pass owners or can be purchased separately for $9.99 on January 23rd.”

Everyone else will just have to wait until January 23rd to play The Hidden Ones expansion for Assassin’s Creed Origins. Naturally, you must own the game’s Season Pass. Until then, you may want to avoid spoilers.
