The Game Is Now More Progression-Based
Many of us appreciated the announcement of Star Wars Battlefront II’s campaign. To sweeten the deal, EA even made DLC available at no extra cost. But the beta previewed a bleak experience by relying too much on loot crates. Fortunately, DICE has since made changes.
The beta did its job of garnering fan feedback. Thankfully, devs and the publisher took it all to heart. Star Wars Battlefront II‘s economy, initially deemed as pay-to-win, has been fixed. On November 17, the day of release, players will see the following changes:
- Epic Star Cards, the highest tier of Star Cards available at launch, have been removed from Crates
- You’ll need to reach a certain rank to craft upgraded Star Cards
- Weapons are locked behind specific milestones
- Class-specific gear and items can be unlocked by playing as them
As you can probably tell, the system is now more progression-based. Originally, anyone could upgrade star cards for competitive advantages in multiplayer; now, players must reach a certain rank. Furthermore, it seems the items available through microtransactions are purely cosmetic. At the same time, you can play to obtain the weapon you like as opposed to relying on the RNG of crates.
