Fast-Paced Arrow-Based Multiplayer Action Out Right Now
We’ve made no secret of our fascination with this game. Arrow Heads combines the frantic pace of local multiplayer with the precise nature of archery and also birds. It makes sense. Arrows are sometimes made with feathers, birds also have feathers. The two are a natural pairing. Now, OddBird’s avian archery opus is out on Steam.
The premise is simple enough. You and 1 to 3 other combatants gather in an arena to pelt each other with arrows until only the victor remains. If, like me, you have no archery skills to speak of, you can even influence the battle’s outcome after you’ve perished. You can throw your corpse around or use your floppy ghost-bird arms to stun players and mess them about. If you’re not jazzed about competitive multiplayer, there’s also a survival mode that pits you and your comrades against wave after wave of bad dudes.
Can’t forget about the customization options, either. This seems like a sort of moot point in the face of all this high-flying chaos, like who’s paying close enough attention during battle to really appreciate whether or not your character has cool wings or a unicorn horn? But that’s cosmetics for you. The fun is that they don’t matter at all. Between this and the environmental hazards, the ghost trickery and the local/online multiplayer options, maybe there’s some fun to be had here? Arrow Heads is out as of yesterday on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One versions are coming next year. Meanwhile, check out that trailer if you’re looking for more details on this feather-heavy multiplayer game.
