Leaning Towards the Former On This One
Nintendo of America may have made a tactical error with a recent Tweet about Fire Emblem that says, “The fearless leader of the Greil Mercenaries, Ike is a powerful hero and a great asset to any #FEHeroes team.” The tweet in itself is nothing alarming as they have been steadily pushing out social media promotion for the mobile Fire Emblem Heroes. Plenty of classic Fire Emblem heroes have joined the game in staggered content updates.
However, a closer inspection of the image with the tweet paints a different picture:
Fire Emblem Echoes: Path of Radiance? Well, that’s either a pretty low-key way of announcing a remake or a typo. While Nintendo has said they would like to use “Echoes” as a title for future remakes like the upcoming Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia on the 3DS, they haven’t officially confirmed that there are plans for future remakes.
Occam’s razor here; it’s probably a typo. The social media staff may have forgotten to take out “Echoes” in the text box of the image. First off, the layout for the image matches the previous Fire Emblem Heroes social media content like this one. Besides that, like anyone using social media, they have made some slip-ups like #WiggerWednesdays in the past. As much as we’d probably like a Path of Radiance remake, this is likely an unfortunate oversight on their team. Strangely enough, the tweet hasn’t been taken down or commented on by their account at this moment since it dropped last night.
While we know Switch will be getting its own Fire Emblem too, I doubt it would be the first game on that console will be a remake. We’ll likely get the real story on Fire Emblem‘s Switch debut come E3 next month.
