The NetherRealm Studios Injustice 2 Silhouettes Showing off Characters Like Raiden and Black Manta Might Be a Total Sham
Although the NetherRealm Studios Injustice 2 silhouettes that appear behind the character models of the first three DLC characters coming to the DC Universe fighting game give us high hopes for characters like Mortal Kombat‘s Raiden and fellow DC character Black Manta, they might also just be a complete sham. Although the distinct shapes appearing behind Starfire, Red Hood, and Sub-Zero in the reveal trailer are surefire indicators that NetherRealm has these characters in mind for future DLC, images keep getting switched around, with characters being repositioned and oddly redesigned.
It’s becoming all too clear that the silhouettes might be a prank, as NetherRealm and Ed Boon both have a history of teasing and trolling their fanbase. As you can see in the screenshot from the reveal trailer compared to the recent image posted by Ed Boon below, the “Raiden” is no longer wearing a hat, and the characters have been rearranged.
Although the hype for Raiden would have been so, so very strong, when Mortal Kombat X was booming, Kombat Pack 2 fighters were teased with side-by-side silhouettes, so it could very well be that the Studio is just poking a bit of fun at the way Mortal Kombat teased their DLC characters at the height of its popularity.
As for now, the images are still just teasers, and it’s completely up in the air as to if these DLC characters will be joining the Injustice 2 team at any point in the future. It’s even possible that an entirely new cast could appear instead of these outlined and ominous figures.
