Check out Almost 20 Minutes of Gameplay From Phantom Dust Remaster

New Footage Released Alongside New Details About Phantom Dust Remaster

After a string of tweets, teases and hints Microsoft Studios has finally released proper gameplay footage of the Phantom Dust remaster. On top of that, they also released some new details about this shinier, sexier version of the game.

Adam Isgreen, the Creative Director at Microsoft Studios, identified resolution as the major challenge with the remaster. The goal is to take the original 16:9 resolution and upscale it to the system in question. This means that the game will play at 1080p on an Xbox One and (assuming you have a system with the guts for it) 4K on a PC. This achievement is all the more impressive since the team had “no final source code” to work with. Part of the reason the original announcement never mentioned resolution is that Isgreen and his team just didn’t know what they’d be able to accomplish.

New features include a mission skip mechanic which allows players to skip a level after failing it three times. The only thing you’ll miss out on are achievements, which means you can still get the story without getting held up at any tough spots. The game’s opening chapter has been altered to give players more direct access to Phantom Dust’s core mechanics right away. The other big news is DLC, both of the free and the paid varieties. The free content will let you jump into multiplayer immediately. The paid content will grant faster access to multiplayer-specific skills.
