Dead Island 2 Is Still a Go, Says Publisher
After dead silence for over a year, pun intended, Deep Silver has revealed in a recent interview that Dead Island 2 is still alive and is progressing well! This is exciting for everyone that has been waiting to hear more about the game since last April.
Deep Silver stated that “Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we are excited by the progress the team are making with Deep Silver’s most successful IP. When we are ready to share more information, we will.” After being announced back in June of 2014, the zombie apocalypse sequel was supposed to release in 2015, however the developer at the time, Yager, and Deep Silver parted ways, halting development.
When the game was first announced it was said that it would feature melee combat, role-playing game elements, and “never-before-seen” handcrafted weapons and will be powered by Unreal Engine 4! Dead Island will feature gameplay from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and Venice Beach. Dead Island 2 is also set to feature a few dedicated classes including the action based Berserker and the stealth based Hunter.
For anyone who is wondering what Sumo Digital is responsible for, their recent successes include Little Big Planet 3, Forza Horizon 2, and Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box Speedway. In addition to Dead Island 2, they are also working on Crackdown 3!
