But why, Nintendo? Why Would You Delay Axiom Verge?
Corporations can be hard to deal with; that’s true. This may be especially true of a rigid company like Nintendo. But the gaming giant’s popularity has been known to overshadow consumer indifference and its own eagle-eyed copyright spotting. However, one former employee found issue in a specific case concerning IP Axiom Verge.
Yesterday, news outlets reported that Axiom Verge was coming to the Nintendo Switch with a physical copy. That was until developer Tom Happ went on podcast “World 1-1” and declared the opposite. While the developer wants their game on the Nintendo Switch, they don’t know when it will happen. It seems Nintendo has been a bit coy about the whole matter.
Ex-head of Digital Content and Development at Nintendo of America, Dan Adelman, even took to twitter correct the misreporting:
“Tom never said that Axiom Verge is confirmed for Switch… :(.”
According to Adelman and the developer, Nintendo has the final word but there is none. “We need them to say it’s ok,” said Adelman, responding to a fan. “We could’ve had it out at launch.” Obviously, Adelman is frustrated, because he had more to say in another fan response:
“We’ve been asking them non-stop for over a year. They’re being douches.”
What do you think, gamers? Is Nintendo full of “douches” or just terrible at third-party correspondence? What was your worst experience with Nintendo? Comment down below.
For the sake of more third-party developers and gamers, let us hope Axiom Verge‘s case does not become part of a trend with Nintendo. Anything can go awry when it comes to communication, but Happ’s case seems rather significant if the above is true.
