Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Scorpio Equals Proud Major Nelson
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is the highly-anticipated title of the year – both a hot IP and a hot gaming experience. Microsoft’s Scorpio is the talk of the town, boasting the best hardware and the best potential to deliver everything gamers want. What if you combined the two in a perfect storm amidst the holiday season? “This Week on Xbox” video spot has Major Nelson saying just that:
“With Project Scorpio coming this holiday, I can’t wait to experience the Star Wars galaxy like never before. If you are a member of EA Access, you will be able to start playing the game on November 9, before the game releases on November 17. Between EA Access and Project Scorpio, Xbox will be the best place to play your favorite Star Wars heroes.”
Can you imagine a Battlefront experience in 4K with quick load times? Let the drooling commence.
All advertising aside, it does look like Microsoft and Xbox are positioning themselves to be in the lead with hot titles and exclusive access. Keep in mind, EA Access isn’t available on PS4, so early access is completely lost on Playstation gamers. Xbox One initially had resolution and lost frames issues due to hardware limitations, but they’ve learned from that and have dropped a major hardware overhaul with Scorpio. Microsoft has also kept developers in mind through the testing process, and results have proven achievable in a short amount of time.
The buzz is all about Scorpio and nothing else, which can turn into an echo chamber after a while, but Playstation has fired zero shots back. Does Sony have something up their sleeve? Are they waiting for Scorpio to be the pioneer into next-gen gaming and hope for a flop? With Major Nelson blatantly endorsing this holiday season on Xbox’s dashboard, Microsoft seems rock-solid in their confidence on hardware and releasing titles on time.
