More Multiplayer Modes and Maps for All Watch Dogs 2 Players
We are no strangers to the seemingly never-ending stream of paid DLC, although there are occasional sparks in this stream. Ubisoft has just announced their multiplayer DLC for Watch Dogs 2, previously price-tagged, will now be free across all consoles. Seems they may be taking notes from Titanfall 2.
Now that the multiplayer will be free, a strong player base can engage in the impending “Showd0wn,” originally part of the “No Compromise” DLC pack. Players will battle it out in three competitive matches: Steal the HDD; Doomload, a king of the hill type match; and Erase/Protect the Servers, where you dominate opponents. Play different games across a total of 15 unique locations seamlessly parsed.
In addition to the free DLC content, leaderboards shall be incorporated into the game’s multiplayer. Witness new rankings across eKart, Motorcross, and Drone races, adding another layer of competition. Expect these along with new clothing, quick-swapping of weapons (practical), and new, randomized “loot truck events.”
Kris Young, the live producer for Watch Dogs 2, claimed two major forces drove Ubisoft into rendering the DLC complementary:
“The first is that we want everyone to be able to participate and play it. We really wanted to have as many people as possible playing the mode for a better challenge, better matchmaking time and quality, and a healthier, more active community.
“The other is community feedback we’ve received since we announced the original plans,” Young adds. “Our community asked for more multiplayer content, and that’s also a reason why we’ve decided to make Showd0wn accessible for free for all players while replacing it with more single-player content in No Compromise.”
Of course, the paid DLC No Compromise is still coming along; it shall include new story missions that pit protagonist Marcus against the Russian Mob. “Moscow Gambit” is the name of the game and players receive a set of new clothing (with abilities), non-lethal weaponry (Air Shot Gun and Tasing Sniper Rifle), and new time trials Young states “weren’t originally part of the package.”
While the multiplayer Showd0wn is now free, No Compromise arrives for those who’ve paid for or already have the Season Pass. All the same, Watch Dogs 2’s multiplayer community can prosper from this point. The Showd0wn multiplayer DLC arrives across all platforms on April 17. No Compromise arrives on April 18 for PlayStation 4, May 18 for Xbox One and PC.
