EA Confirms Its Single Title For Nintendo Switch Will Be FIFA 18

As If We Did Not Know Which FIFA It Was Going To Be….

EA has officially announced that its upcoming custom built FIFA game for the Nintendo Switch, will be FIFA 18. Shocking, it isn’t as if they follow a sequential order or anything.

EA’s Chief Competition Officer, Peter Moore, confirms this in a recent interview with Gamereactor. He states” “Well, as we have said, we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch…It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out.” Moore was also asked whether the Switch version would be different than the versions hitting PS4 and Xbox One. He responded with “What you have will be a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver.”

This information does give us a set time frame for an EA title on the upcoming Switch. FIFA traditionally hits consoles in September, but whether or not the Switch version will release at the same time as other consoles remain to be seen. COGconnected covered in a previous article how this is the only official EA title slated for release on the Nintendo Switch. EA has expressed some hesitation in committing to further titles on the Switch until it has a degree of success.  EA Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen voiced the sentiment as “It’s an interesting device. But I can’t yet predict how broad it’s going to be.”

In addition, Gamereactor did ask Moore whether or not players will be seeing Mass Effect: Andromeda for the Nintendo Switch. But he stuck by the statement that FIFA 18 is the only title currently announced for the system. Whether it will hurt the Switch to be excluded from such anticipated big name titles remains to be seen. However, it is good news that players can expect a custom Switch FIFA 18. It will be interesting to see what the EA developers are able to do with the Switch’s unique features.
