Fans Receive New Details For Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age At The Kick Off of The Year-Long Celebration.
Today officially marks the 30th Anniversary of Final Fantasy. Yes, it has been that long! Square Enix hosted The Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Opening Ceremony in Tokyo, marking the start of what is to be a year-long celebration. They also took the chance to release some new details, art, and videos regarding their biggest upcoming pieces.
The opening ceremony featured many special guests, chief among them Shinji Hashimoto, Square Enix Executive Officer and FINAL FANTASY Brand Manager. At the opening ceremony Hashimoto presented some new information on upcoming titles, so let’s run down what the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary gave us!
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Fans received some key art for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake. In it, we get a look at one of the most iconic Final Fantasy Heros. Cloud, VII’s main protagonist and mercenary bad ass, is depicted with his buster sword against the backdrop of Midgar. Check it out.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Additional details were released for the upcoming Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. This audio and visual remaster of Final Fantasy XII is set to release in North America on July 11th, 2017 for PS4. Fans can expect to see a brand new job character progression system for the first time in the West. Character designer and artist Akihiko Yoshida also revealed new key art that features the main cast of the game including Ashe, Balthier, Fran, and Vaan.
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladio DLC
Fans of the recently released Final Fantasy XV will be pleased to hear that a sneak peek was shown of the upcoming Episode Gladio DLC. This DLC allows players to try an episode through the eyes of Gladio. Episode Gladiolus releases on March 28th and will be available to players who purchased the Premium Edition or Season Pass. Players can also purchase the episode separately. In addition to the Gladio DLC, fans also received info on the upcoming FINAL FANTASY XV Booster Pack (Free Version) and Final Fantasy XV Booster Pack +. Both are scheduled for release on February 21st and will include powerful items such as the invincible outfit, “Magitek Exosuit”.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius:
You may remember Final Fantasy Brave Exvius as the mobile game collaboration between Square Enix and performing artist Ariana Grande. If not check out the article that we did on it, so you are up to speed. Information released for the title at the Opening Ceremony shows that players can get the exclusive Ariana Grande inspired character, “Dangerous Ariana,” for the game until February 2nd. All they need to do is complete the first stage of the special in-game event, “Dangerous Woman Tour.”
Mobius Final Fantasy
Finally, Mobius Final Fantasy will be coming to STEAM next month on February 6th. This is a new turn based-RPG with all the story, stunning visuals, and in-depth character customization we expect from a Final Fantasy game. Mobile or not. Square Enix also announced that in-game bonuses and a special Final Fantasy VII Remake collaboration event will begin on February 7th for a limited time. This is in order to celebrate over 10 million registered users and the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII.
