Rime is Back on Track!
Originally announced at Gamescom 2013, Rime is an open world adventure game that was supposed to be a PS4 exclusive. Since the announcement, it has not been smooth sailing for the whimsical game. It was leaked in 2014 that the game was originally pitched to Microsoft as Echoes of the Sieren, but they passed. But then on March 16, 2016, it was announced the game will no longer be a PlayStation exclusive either. Tequila Works issued a statement at the time saying they had “chosen to reacquire the rights to its open world adventure game, RiME,” and “is working hard to realize its aspirations for it”. Tequila Works and Sony then parted ways with Tequila Works requiring the rights. Now, it seems good things are on the horizon for Rime as the game was today re-revealed for the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.
Rime is an anticipated open-world indie game set on an island from which a boy is trying to escape. According to IGN, in Rime, “Players must navigate the island’s secrets by making use of light, sound, perspective and even time.”
Tequila Works also developed Deadlight. In an August interview with IBTimes, Rime’s developers said that they were silent, in part, because “we are only going to allow people to play the game when it’s fully ready. We have no bulls**t excuse of ‘Oh, it’s a work in progress, don’t worry, it will look better.’” They did not elaborate on their split with Sony.
