Top Devs from Grand Theft Auto V Team up for the next Big Game

Now That Former Grand Theft Auto V Devs Are Teaming up, You Know It’s Real

You all remember Leslie Benzies; You should. He was Lead Designer in the production of Grand Theft Auto V and President of Rockstar North. Recently, he trademarked a few names for future games and started several companies. On top of all that, is currently in a legal battle with Rockstar. But that hasn’t stopped him from moving forward with his latest project. Teaming up with previous designers of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, his next big venture is called Everywhere.

Grand Theft Auto V

Alongside Matthew Smith: former audio lead at Rockstar, and Colin Entwistle: former lead camera programmer, Benzies sounds ready for gaming innovation through Everywhere. So far, he calls it “a platform where players can be entertained, and also entertain others while blurring the lines between reality and a simulated world.” The devs are no strangers to seamless environments and optimizing player-to-player interaction, as seen in GTA Online, but we can only speculate whether it will be anything like that.

Furthermore, Leslie and team are ready for development via Amazon Lumberyard. Amazon Lumberyard is a free cross-platform 3D game engine operating through feedback from devs like Benzies; thus, he’s already familiar with the technology. Its additional Twitch integration and server hosting service, Amazon GameLift, will all be utilized in Everywhere.

Grand Theft Auto Online

We eagerly await more news as Benzies and former Rockstar devs unravel this next big project. Currently, Smith and Entwistle are heads of their new studio, Square Peg Games. But the official name of the new studio behind Everywhere remains unknown. Benzies may decide from his list of recently trademarked names: Royal Circus Games, Starship Group, Everywhere Game Limited, or VR-Chitect. We’ll keep you updated; Simply stay tuned to COGconnected. And happy gaming.
