Capcom Looking to Give Gamers a Blast From The Past

A couple of days ago at Sony’s PlayStation Experience, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite was announced and judging by the new trailer it looks absolutely stunning. With upcoming titles such as Resident Evil VII: Biohazard and Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, there is no denying the publisher is building a strong lineup of titles in 2017 and beyond. The publisher has also recently made it known they plan to resurrect some legacy franchises and titles.

In a press release from the company today, confirming details and franchise sales for their fighter series, the company also confirmed that as part of its strategy moving forward into next year and beyond, the company will be “focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP.” The publisher also added that the company will look to “enhance its corporate value further by utilizing its library of rich contents .”

Specifically, the publisher explained that this initiative will begin with Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, with the last entry in the series having released five years ago (Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in 2011), and while no specific series, franchises, or titles were mentioned by the company just yet, hopefully some of the company’s legacy titles and series will get their chance to shine again in the coming years.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in late 2017.
