Multiplayer for Batman: Arkham Origins Shutting Down Soon
After 3 years of online battles on Batman: Arkham Origins Warner Bros has officially announced that the multiplayer servers will be shutting down on December 4 of this year. While the story mode remains unaffected, players will only able to enjoy multiplayer for just over two more weeks!
Warner Bros had this to say about the online service shut down, “We thank those that have joined us to battle over the last 3 years. The single-player campaign may still be played and enjoyed offline.” This news follows last months Return to Arkham bundle, which did not feature Arkham Origins, however did include remastered versions of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. This, as well as the multiplayer server shutdown, could be due to the fact that the game just did not pick up the same kind of traction that other games in the Arkham series did.
Arkham Origins was originally developed by WB Montreal for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC while another version of the game, Blackgate, was also released, for consoles, PC, and portable systems. This game is a spin-off from Rocksteady’s trilogy developed by Warner Bros. Montreal featuring a multiplayer mode full of energy, where teams of gang members fight in Blackgate Prison. Players can battle as either Joker or Bane-aligned thugs in three-on-three matches against each other, or against Batman and Robin.
Although it is sad that Warner Bros is closing this chapter for Arkham Origins, there are plenty of other ways to get your Batman fix including the newest games Batman: The Telltale Series and for those of you with a Playstation VR, Batman: Arkham VR.
