Special Xbox Poppy Avatars To Celebrate Remembrance Day
In honour of Remembrance Day this Friday, Microsoft has added two avatars to the Xbox Store, each for $ 0.99. The avatars both feature a poppy in the background, each with an instrument. One holds a bagpipe, while the other holds a bugle. The only thing things missing are a soldier’s uniform, or a kilt, although we can’t quite decide which. Following the release of Battlefield 1, the timing for this Remembrance Day special is perfect!
For those of you who may not know, Remembrance Day is a celebration of which we remember our fallen soldiers. If it wasn’t for their sacrifice, we may not be able to play video games until all hours of the night, if at all. The poppy shown in both the avatars is the flower that grows in Flanders Fields, also cited in a poem written by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae. This holiday is the Canadian version of what Americans call Memorial Day.
What better way for Microsoft to thank our soldiers for their bravery and service? And what better way for us to show our appreciation than to sport one of these special avatars? Â Happy Remembrance Day and lest we forget.
