Last Unfinished ‘Left 4 Dead’ Campaign Released  by Turtle Rock
Left 4 Dead is considered by many to be an absolute classic and even though we’re years past its release it’s great to see Turtle Rock still supporting the game. The last campaign that the studio worked on for the game has now been released to the public. The campaign, titled ‘Dam It’, is available to download from third party site AugerResources right now. You won’t be able to find this over on Steam.
From the developer, “It’s gray box, and some code features are missing, but it’s playable from beginning to end, It also includes two standalone survival maps that never shipped.”
The release notes for the campaign note a few issues and items left out due to this essentially being unfinished. With the campaign being released as an add-on it means that code changes aren’t included and because of that these following features will not work;
- Fire, smoke and explosions do not trigger panic events in the hangars.
- Zombies do not crawl all the time in the orchard.
- Farmhouse mob does not spawn in the far side of the woods.
- The covered bridge does not collapse with explosions.
- Burned forest area is missing wandering fires.
- The dam spawn room is missing health kits and weapons.
- The burning forest section has a burn trigger that stays on too long. If you move quickly you’ll take burn damage.
- The dam spawn room is missing health kits and weapons.
- The elevator models have an offset origin in the dam. Players can still get on and use them, but they are invisible and wall collision is missing.
Regardless of these glitches, it’s still nice to see new content come to a game that has been loved by fans for so long. Whether or not we ever see another entry into the Left 4 Dead franchise remains to be seen but we’ll take this for now.
