Deadpool 2Â Details Announced
This past weekend Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the co-writers of Deadpool, attended a special screening and Q&A at Fox Studios in Los Angeles for Deadpool, sharing some details about the upcoming sequel. The writers confirmed that like the first movie, Deadpool 2 is going to have a smaller budget and will not include many members of the X-Men cast. We can also expect some big changes and introductions in the sequel as well, all of which is exciting news as a fan of both the comics and movies alike!
Wernick explained that the reason behind the lack of X-Men characters in both Deadpool movies, regardless of budget, is because they want to keep the two franchises separate, and believe that mixing them together would be a mistake. Ryan Reynolds also attended the event and had this to say about keeping a small budget for both movies: “That [budget limitation] created so many more opportunities for us, because we replaced intense action or large spectacle with character. And in doing that, we learned a pretty valuable lesson as well: that you can entertain an audience more so with character, which is much more memorable than humongous action set pieces.”
In addition to the details above, and following Tim Miller’s departure from Deadpool 2, Fox Studios is trying to find a new director, of which it is rumored there are a few people in running, including David Leitch, Magnus Martens and Drew Goddard. It makes us wonder what kind of an impact this will have on the second Deadpool movie.
Speaking of what to expect moving forward, it has been reported that Fox Studios is already planning a third film, even before the release of the second movie. This third film is set to introduce the X-Force, which centers around a team of superhero mutants led by Cyclops’ son from the future, Cable, a character who we are set to meet in Deadpool 2.
One thing is for sure, regardless of any changes to a fantastic franchise, we are excited to see what Deadpool 2 has to offer, following the massive success of the first film.
