Capcom Very Pleased About Nintendo Switch & Predicts 100 Million PS4 Units Sold by 2020

Capcom Making Some Bold Predictions

Capcom President and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto recently spoke about the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch during his presentation and subsequent Q&A. This occurred during Capcom’s latest financial briefing for the first half of the year ending on September 30th.

During the briefing, Tsujimoto indicated that the PS4 is showing stronger performance than PS3, with over 40 million already sold. He expects it to break 100 million by 2020. A lofty prediction but hey you never know.

The CEO also feels that Microsoft is committed to expand its sales, and he suggests Capcom should make an effort to strengthen its lineup for the western market. We tend to agree with him here.

In terms of the Nintendo Switch, the Capcom CEO indicated the new hardware is considered very pleasing. As a software developer, Capcom wants to strive to develop games that can offer an experience tailored to the characteristics of each hardware and to the enjoyment of each target audience. That’s why they’re currently engaged in internal review and planning about offering content for the console as a partner.

On top of that, Capcom is currently verifying the feasibility of multi-platform development for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, but it’s too early to be sure. That said, the feeling is that the Switch offers a different experience compared to PS4 and Xbox One. Hardware for each game will be selected taking in consideration the characteristics of each hardware, in order to maximize the fun provided to the player.
