Duke Nukem Returns To His Roots
Despite the rumblings from earlier these past few weeks, Gearbox had been particularly mum on what was going on with the website for Duke Nukem. That changes today though, as Gearbox confirms they are releasing a re-mastered edition of Duke Nukem 3D planned for the big three, so to speak. PC, PS4 and Xbox One will all be playing host to Duke’s latest adventure.
This won’t just be featuring old content, however, as the the team has confirmed it will feature the entirety of the original title, along with a brand new episode consisting of 8 levels, sure to be full of Pigcops, Babes, and plenty of Duke’s one-liners. The original sound designer is on board as well and will be providing a host of new tunes to help flesh out this brand new content.
It’s been awhile since we’d had anything Duke Nukem related come our way, but it’s not something we’re about to complain about getting. Duke’s a classic series, going all the way back to 1991. He may have hit some hard times with games like Duke Nukem Forever, but maybe a return to his roots is just what everyone’s favourite cheeky mercenary needs.
While there’s no concrete release date set, it can’t be terribly far away. Gearbox has been keeping busy, but haven’t been letting on with what since Battleborn had come out. They’ve a number of franchises to their name, but that’s one the public seems to keep forgetting about is good ol’ Duke Nukem. If this game does well, there’s a good chance we could see him come back to the spotlight, too in the future.
We’ll be coming at you with impressions of Duke Nukem’s remastered return later in September, but for now be sure to keep it locked on COGconnected for any more details on this upcoming remaster of a game many hold near and dear,
Hail to the king, baby.
