Slim PS4 Set To Join The Hunt For Holiday Sales
The console way is really heating up now. Hot on the heels of the new Xbox One S and Nintendo NX/Focus rumors, images of a new, slim PS4 have leaked online.
The images first showed up in an online auction (yes, we are just as shocked as you are that someone thought this would go unnoticed), with The Verge acquiring some follow up photos from the seller. To our eyes, this looks like either the real deal, or a ridiculously elaborate fake. The photos show off a freshened design that sticks to the PS4 design language, albeit with softer corners and a (hopefully fingerprint resistant) matte finish. The box shots are particularly enticing, as they seem to be legit Sony packaging materials.
Posters at NeoGAF have posted comparison shots between the original and slim PS4, which seem to show a modest shrink to the original – nothing so dramatic as the Xbox One S’ transformational redesign here.
Is this just a slim PS4, or is this the form factor the new Neo will take on? Time will tell, as Sony is set to spill the beans (finally) in New York on September 7.
We think this new box looks pretty slick – what do you think? Is Sony poised to keep the market lead? Let us know!
