PC Version of Batman: The Telltale Series a Stuttering Mess
It looks like WB’s Batman: Arkham Knight started something. That something, of course, being the relationship of games that don’t work with the PC community. Let’s be serious for a second, folks. How can PC gamers feel good about screaming ‘PC Master Race’ at all the console peasants if their games don’t work? All joking aside of course, it really is unfortunate when a game releases and one platform or another suffers near crippling issues that sap all the fun out of the game.
Such is the case with the recently released Batman: The Telltale Series for PC. Nearly one-third of all users on Steam have given the game negative feedback due to freezing, crashes, bugs, and overall awful optimization. Claims of out of sync dialogue, framerates as low as 10fps on machines that are well over listed specs, and the inability to run the game in 1080p are only a few of the complaints.
One of the best comments we’ve seen came from a user on Steam who proclaimed, “You could have a PC built by Jesus Christ himself and this game still will run at [10 fps], a floaty cursor, and be completely unplayable at the LOWEST settings.” The comment, left by user Cerberus30, has received quite the response from the Steam community with most tending to agree with his take on the issue.
Undoubtedly this is not the response Telltale was hoping for with its latest release. While Telltale is obviously known for crafting amazing games with strong narratives and stronger characters it has long been known that their engine could use some work. Lag, choppy gameplay and stiff animation are only a few things we’ve all noticed over the years. It would seem like an engine overhaul will soon have to be in the works. Batman: The Telltale Series is likely pushing the Telltale Engine as hard as it’s ever been and this time it might have been too far. We’re sure a patch is in the works so you may want to hold off on your purchase if you’re a PC gamer.
