Splatoon Gearing Up For One Last Splatfest

Splatoon’s Final Splatfest Is Near

In a rather surprising move, Nintendo’s popular shooter Splatoon has no plans to continue Splatfest, opting to go for one last, big event. There have been fifteen of these events already, pitting players in seemingly menial confrontations such as “Water Slides Or Roller Coasters” or “Pokemon Red Or Pokemon Blue”. These events have proven to be wildly popular for the game however, with sides becoming quite adamant in their stances. The team behind Splatoon posted on their Tumblr that while the game will continue to remain active, these Splatfests will no longer occur, with this being the final one for Splatoon.

Splatoon as a whole was a very pleasant surprise from Nintendo. The game was well-received, sold great, and received a ton of support after it’s initial release. It’s a bit disappointing to hear that the team will make this the final Splatfest, but with the two sides that you can take, it should spur plenty of quality interactions from those still playing the game. The 16th and final splatfest will ask players which of the two squid sisters they choose to side with, Callie or Marie. The two characters provide constant banter between matches and have proven to be very popular with fans, but as the saying goes in Highlander, there can only be one, right?

Splatfest

This Splatfest will be taking place on July 22, starting at 2 AM PT and run until 2 AM PT on the 24th of July. It will be taking place at almost the same time in all available matchmaking regions, but the match-ups will vary just ever so slightly. Players in Japan will be paired off against each other, and those in North America and Europe will also be paired off with each other. The top 100 players for each separate region will also be tallied, with them all being announced at the same time upon the completion of the event. The actual in-game announcement and voting commences at 7 PM PT on July 4th however, so make sure you pick your side early, and bring your A game, as this will be the last chance to show your support for your selected side.
