Death Stranding Will Be My Best Work, I Won’t Have to Give Up or Compromise
In a recent keynote at Develop Brighton, Hideo Kojima alongside Sony’s Mark Cerny, had some words to say about his upcoming project, Death Stranding. Over the course of the keynote Kojima stated that during previous projects he always came to a point where he had to give up or make a compromise in order to finally get something done. He stated that with the help of Cerny and the Sony team he believes he’ll be able to prevent this from happening again and in turn will make Death Stranding his best work yet.
Kojima and Cerny have been close friends for nearly two decades and over the course of this friendship, Kojima admitted to learning a ton about working with hardware and software. Talking about his move to becoming a game designer he started with how much of a movie buff he is. Unable to make movies where he lived he naturally migrated to games as it was another medium that would allow him to tell stories in a way he liked. As technology has improved he noted that he feels we’ll eventually reach a point where it will be easier to reach out emotionally online or through games than with people in real life.
One thing we know for sure is that we won’t be seeing Death Stranding for some time yet. What we saw at E3 was truly nothing more than a tease and the game’s debut is certainly a long time off. Scheduled to hit the PlayStation 4 with the PC following after, we’re expecting big things from Kojima.
