Kentucky Route Zero: 2 Years After Last Update, Act IV Out Now

Act IV of Kentucky Route Zero is Finally Here, Two Years Later

Indie developer Cardboard Computer finally released the latest update to its surreal episodic game Kentucky Route Zero. Act IV has been dropped today in a surprise update, as the last mention of it was in May. Currently 50% off, take a look at its Steam page here.

Kentucky Route Zero

Kentucky Route Zero was originally released on January 7, 2013. With five Acts promised, the whole game is to be “roughly the length of a summer night.” The last three episodes have enjoyed high levels of praise, and we have no doubts the fourth will experience the same, despite the wait.

A magical realist adventure game, Kentucky Route Zero follows the journey of Conway, a truck driver attempting to finish his last delivery. He is diverted along his attempt to find the mysterious address, and he travels through abandoned mine shafts, an office building with a floor full of bears, a museum of houses, and many other strange locales. Along the way, Conway picks up a band of misfits and makes strange friends as he wanders the highways of Kentucky. Act III ended with a cliffhanger in May 2014.

Kentucky Route Zero

Kentucky Route Zero features a minimalist art style, a hauntingly sublime soundtrack, and beautifully written dialogue. A point-and-click adventure, this game is more of an experience, focusing on its characters, story, and atmosphere rather than puzzles.

The soundtrack for Act IV will be released soon, and the upcoming fifth act will be the last, concluding the story of Kentucky Route Zero.
