Out of Ammo, now on Steam, is from DayZ creator Dean Hall
Out of Ammo is a virtual reality strategy shooting game exclusively for HTC Vive. It’s creator, Dean Hall, who also created DayZ, announced he was developing a SteamVR game last year at E3, and now we get chance to check it out. From the looks of the Trailer below, it is already looking really amazing:
In Out of Ammo, you’re put in a first-person view facing off against wave after wave of enemy soldiers. Movement is achieved by motion tracking. You place magazines around the battlefield using the game’s full object physics.
To help you in your wave defense, you can apparently build defenses such as watchtowers, and issue orders; you’ll also be able to take possession of other units if need be. With a Minecraft-y look and a VR immersion, Out of Ammo looks super fun and addictive from what we see.
Out of Ammo has four different environments and five unit types:
Units
- Rifleman – Thirty round fully-automatic rifle with manual magazine reload
Sniper – Semi-automatic bolt action long distance rifle with scope - Rocketeer – Single-shot re-loadable rocket-propelled grenade launcher
Medic – Heals troops but can shoot with a pistol when controlled - Engineer – Constructs and repairs fortifications, can shoot with a pistol when controlled
Environments
- Woodland – A small base perched in a clearing at the bottom of a valley
- Urban – A very tight open space in the city serves as a base for local operations.
- Desert – The open desert provides excellent vision of incoming enemies. But they can see you too.
- Alpine – Set high in the mountains at twilight in difficult conditions with limited visibility
If you are interested – and you plan on buying the required HTC Vive – check out the Steam page here. The game itself will run you $14.99.
