In a recent interview with Game Informer, the Director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata made comments on what he hopes the impact of the upcoming game will be. We all know that a Final Fantasy game requires a large investment of time. Tabata-san is very aware of this so naturally wants to make the long journey worth it and make as much of an emotional impact as possible.

“I want to create a very emotional ending to the game and want to make as many people cry as possible. You’re spending so many hours playing the game, so when I finish a game and it ends on a sour note and it doesn’t move me, it gets me disappointed. At least make me cry or give me some emotion! I want to give a moving ending for the consumers who invest so much time,”

Over the course of Final Fantasy XV, players will join the game’s protagonist, Noctus on his own journey from young boy to grown man. With most game’s in the Final Fantasy series focusing purely on adulthood, this gives the developer time to forge a true attachment to the main character over the course of their lifetime.

As we wait to find out more it will be particularly interesting to see who makes up the game’s supporting cast. The protagonist is important but the rest of the ensemble really helps pull it all together to take a story from good to great. Final Fantasy XV arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC on Sept. 30 and you can get all the info you need on our massive information thread here.
