The first of two planned free expansions for Ubisoft’s megahit Tom Clancy’s The Division will be called Incursions, and drops with Update 1.1 April 12th.
Ubisoft has revealed in a Twitch Livestream new details which give us a good idea of what to expect from the new content – here are the highlights, courtesy of vg247:
- New endgame activity specifically designed for Squad play, rewarding teams with high-level loot.
- More daily and weekly activities coming in Update 1.1.  “Coordination will be more important” for those playing in groups.
- The first Incursion, titled ‘Falcon Lost,’ is set in a new area, an underground water-treatment facility. This is the stronghold for the Last Man Battalion, and will come in two difficulties: Hard mode for players whose gear score is equivalent to level 31; and challenge mode, which is even tougher.
- Falcon Lost will not have checkpoints, so if your team loses the battle, everyone will have to start all over. It can be played as many times as needed, with new loot being rewarded no matter how many restarts have been made.
- Game enemies will now also deploy drones during battle, and an armored personnel carrier which acts as a boss will be added. Bullets won’t do damage against the carrier, so players will have to use other tactics to destroy it.
- If a player’s Agent dies, they will get the ability to “camera-follow” their teammates.
- New tasks called Assignments, which are completely optional side goals that update daily. Completing the assignments will earn players Phoenix Credits, Division tech, and other rewards.
- Your Agent level will still be capped at 30. But, with the new gear score system, players will be able to boost their abilities beyond the cap. Players will also receive set bonuses for gear and these bonuses and Talents will “change the way” the character can be played. Some sets are Rare or hard to get, and one called Path of the Nomad is primarily acquired from the Dark Zone.
- The other three are called Sentry’s Call, Striker’s Battle Gear and Technician’s Authority. Each is designed for specific play styles; for example, Strikers Battle Gear which is combat assault-focused while Sentry’s Call focuses on precision.
- Finding and equipping four pieces of gear from a single set will provide the player with new Talents that are “very powerful,” according to the developers. No word yet on what those Talents are.
- Players will now get Supply Drops in the Dark Zone, which means you will have to fight other players for them, as well as the powerful enemies guarding the drops. But on the positive side, the loot isn’t contaminated, doesn’t need to be extracted and cannot be stolen from you once you’ve grabbed it.
- Players can now trade loot items with others by dropping the item on the ground. The other player can take it by just picking it up. In the Dark Zone, loot may only be dropped when inside the Dark Zone gate.
That’s it for Incursions. The second of the two updates, Conflict, will apparently add another incursion into New York’s Columbus Circle and comes with new Dark Zone features.
As for The Division’s three paid DLC expansions – Underground, Survival, and Last Stand – they will be released this year and include new areas and threats of their own to The Division’s open-world New York environment. As we previously told you right here, Xbox One players will get exclusive early access to Underground and Survival for the first 30 days. But on the good side, Incursions, Conflict, and Last Stand will hit all platforms at the same time.
