PlayStation VR Price, Release Date Might Be Revealed Next Week

There is an air of anticipation around the PlayStation VR in the last few days, as many are speculating that we might get a reveal of the VR system’s price and launch date next week. Why? Sony has apparently sent out invitations to the Game Developers Conference (GDC) for a PlayStation VR-focused event on March 15th.

Officially, Sony has only told people that there will be demos after the presentation, but the speculation is that there will be more as well. One reason is that it was at the 2014 GDC show that “Project Morpheus” (the original name for the PlayStation VR) was unveiled. Plus, the other VR headsets competing with Sony – most notably, Oculus Rift and HTC/Valve – have already announced their prices and launch dates, so Sony will likely be looking to catch up. For comparison, Oculus will cost $600, and the HTC/Valve will be $800. However, each of them has more powerful hardware, so it is likely that the PlayStation VR will be less than either.
