With the recent Uncharted 4 Beta going live, players noticed that, although character Harry Flynn comes back for the latest installment of the series, he was not voiced by the same voice actor, Steve Valentine. And as you can guess, many are not happy about that.
One of those unhappy about the situation is none other than Valentine himself, who has been quite vocal about his views on Twitter. Among the biggest salvos he has fired at Naughty Dog is an assertion that he was never even asked to contribute to the newest title. Check out a few of Valentine’s recent Tweets below:
“Many asked, so; Since the beta, no one’s approached re#Uncharted4. Not gonna happen chaps. But can’t tell u how grateful I am 4 the love:)” –Â
“It would be easy to discuss the realities of the voice over business, and point fingers and complain. But it doesn’t get actors anywhere.” –Â
“Acting, and voice acting is a tricky business. Private business, that shouldn’t be discussed on forums by execs. very disappointed tonight” –Â
Now, Naughty Dog has responded to Valentine’s comments. Community Strategist Arne Meyer took to PlayStation Forums to refute Valentine’s claims, saying that Naughty Dog did in fact contact him, but that ultimately “we couldn’t strike a deal.” Meyer also dismissed any talk of re-doing the voice work at this stage.
“We did our part to make it work and it didn’t work out when it should have, when we were casting the roles and negotiating agreements,” he said. “Unfortunately, the opportunity had long passed us by, even back in December, and we won’t be re-recording any multiplayer voices.”
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was originally supposed to launch in 2015, but has been moved to March 2016 and then again to April and finally May of 2016. It will be a PS4 exclusive. We just detailed the game’s Preorder Bonuses – read about the details here.
