Mass Effect: Andromeda Development Team Loses Another Member

Mass Effect: Andromeda and its developer, BioWare, have lost another team member, making this the third team member on the project to depart. Cameron Harris, a Senior Editor on the game, is apparently leaving the company and the industry. Harris announced her departure via Twitter, joining Lead Writer Chris Schlerf and Senior Development Director Chris Wynn as members who have quit Mass Effect: Andromeda in the last few months.

Harris, based in BioWare’s Montreal office, posted the following comment on her Twitter feed March 4th:

“I’ve decided to exit the video-game industry to return to Seattle for new opportunities there. I’ll be leaving BioWare in mid-April.”

This is the latest in what has become a pattern of setbacks for the game. It was announced not long ago that the game’s launch date was being pushed back, from Holiday 2016 to early 2017. Game spokespeople said that their game roster was too full and they needed more time to complete Mass Effect: Andromeda.

All of this begs the question as to whether the project is in trouble. It is certainly too early to say yes definitively, but all of these departures can never be a good thing for the development of such an anticipated title. Let’s hope that some stability settles in now and the upheaval doesn’t continue. We’ll update you if we hear anything more.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is an upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It is a sequel to Mass Effect 3 and was announced June 15, 2015 during the EA press conference at E3.
