12 Ways Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Can Blast Into Red Dead Redemption 2’s Market Share

Battle Royale Mode

I know what you are thinking, C’mon man Call of Duty doesn’t need a battle royale mode but hear me out. I don’t expect to see the same 100-man royale modes we have seen in Fortnite or PUBG but how about something a little smaller in terms of scale? Maybe a 50 man mode, include AI zombies, and the possibility of jumping into the mode with a buddy. Even a 30-man mode would be cool. I’d love to see it and would inevitably help Activision sell a shit-ton of copies.

Headquarters Returns

One of the cool new features that Call of Duty: WWII brought to the franchise was Headquarters. This fun little time waster allowed us to practice, socialize, get creative, and so on. I definitely want to see a Black Ops 4 variation, including all the same areas like the shooting range, 1v1 arena, scorestreak training, and arcade. In a recent update to WWII, some of the Headquarters features were moved to a more accessible menu, for those gamers who didn’t want to always visit headquarters – and I’d hope they’d do the same for Black Ops 4. However, give us the option to explore a clandestine black ops site when we’re looking to kill some time.

No More DLC Exclusivity Deals

It’s entirely possible that this wish is already void if Sony still has a contractual agreement with Activision to retain certain DLC exclusivity rights (ie: PlayStation 4 gets the Season Pass content a month ahead of Xbox One). However, if the contract’s expired, then it’s time to drop this nonsense once and for all. I get that money talks and Activision probably scored a nice little profit from Sony by offering the exclusivity deal, just like they probably scored a nice little profit from Microsoft when Microsoft had the exclusivity rights. Here’s the thing: if Microsoft has the rights, it pisses off PlayStation gamers, if Sony has the rights, it pisses of Xbox One owners. Regardless of who has the rights, a segment of Call of Duty gamers are penalized for the console they choose and that’s absurd.

Online Crossplay

We know that it’s technically feasible, so now it’s time for one of the biggest games in gaming to step up and give gamers what they deserve, online crossplay. PlayStation 4 gamers and Xbox One gamers finally playing the same game together online. Your friends will be able to pick up Black Ops IIII for whatever platform they prefer and you’ll still be able to play online together. I assume there will be hurdles – the ability to join parties and chat might be a challenge given Sony and Microsofts respective networks. But the opportunities online crossplay presents are just too good to pass up. Instead of one pool of players, you’ll have two pools of players – this means some of the less popular modes will still have essentially double the player count. I’ve heard rumblings that Sony once wanted crossplay and Microsoft refused and now Microsoft wants crossplay and Sony is refusing – honestly, it’s time to just move on and get it done. Microsoft and Nintendo have established crossplay with games like Minecraft and Rocket League. And both Sony and Microsoft have examples of crossplay with their respective consoles and PC. Time to build a bridge between all the platforms and give gamers more flexibility.
