No Man’s Sky Xbox Version and Huge Multiplayer Update Arrive in July

Multiplayer Mode Comes in No Man’s Sky’s Biggest Update Yet

A few years later, the No Man’s Sky team is still tweaking their space travel sandbox. Part of the purpose has been to deliver the game to Xbox, but there is a lot more going on. Creator Sean Murray revealed the team’s latest plan in a new interview.

Speaking to Xbox Insider, Murray revealed that the Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky will launch on July 24th. Moreover, there will be a new update for all systems on the same day. The update in question will implement the highly anticipated multiplayer mode.

Back when No Man’s Sky released in 2016, the experience stumbled for its inability to let players meet in the procedurally-generated space. Ultimately, the reality of the spacefaring sandbox did not meet fan expectations. Since launch, however, the game has received numerous updates for content and quality of life, including the facilitation of co-op. That in mind, Xbox One users will have access to far, far more content when the game re-launches this July.

“Multiplayer completely changes the No Man’s Sky experience, it’s emergent, fun and intense in ways we always wanted it to be. I’m so happy this is finally happening” said Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games. “It is genuinely exciting to be able to fully realize the potential so many people could see in No Man’s Sky. This will be our biggest update yet and we’re pumped to be bringing Xbox players along on the journey with us now too.”

Following the next update, players across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 will be able to explore the expansive procedurally-generated sandbox alongside friends.

  • Explore the infinite universe with your friends, or bump into random travelers.
  • As you voyage together, friends will help you stay alive, or prey on others to survive.
  • Build bases from tiny shelters to complex colonies that you create as a team and can be seen by the community.
  • Be a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and foes
  • Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, create tracks to share online
