Star Wars Battlefront II Will Be a Very Immersive Experience
Even though Star Wars Battlefront definitely had its missteps, the Death Star DLC signified that the developers were listening to the criticism (a little at least). This DLC for the first game gave the multiplayer maps a narrative, and made objectives a lot more meaningful in the grander scheme of the story. Now, this is something that developers DICE and Criterion will continue and expand on for Battlefront II.
In the most recent edition of the Battlefront Podcast, John Stanley, Criterion designer, confirmed that this same type of narrative will be used to make each of the maps both more meaningful and immersive. He stated that this type of narrative will allow the overall experience more authentic. “Yeah, each of the maps will have a narrative focus, and we’ve tried to make it so that the objectives then tie into the map. And that’s important to help with the narrative, but we want to make sure we are switching up the gameplay and making the gameplay feel right for that level, too.”
What’s great is that this will definitely add another layer to the gameplay, and by the sounds of it, will make Battlefront II more enjoyable for both returning, as well as new players. Stanley also talked about how they’ve worked to make the sequel more immersive than the first one ever was. “I think for a lot of Star Wars players, it’s all about immersion, and some of that immersion will come from setting that narrative and the setting, and what’s going on in the level, plus we have things like the audio, or making the ships handle really authentically…all of those layers come together and hopefully make for an immersive experience.”
We’ll have to wait until November 17th when Battlefront II is released to see just how the developers have implemented all of their improvements to the various aspects of the game. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below and keep it locked for updates!
