Phil Spencer Shuts Down Console War Conspiracy Troll with One Tweet

Phil Spencer Drops the Heat on Twitter Troll

Ahh video games, the source of so much joy for all of us. Great games deserve to be celebrated and shared with all who love games as much as you do, right? Well, that’s what one would think unless you’re one of those internet trolls who’ll look for any reason to take a dump on something that someone else likes. Whether we like it or not, the great console wars are still waging hard battles fought from behind keyboards and backlit LED screens in the darkness of night across the world. Trolls… waiting for any opportunity to make a fuss. One troll, in particular, attempted to shut down Xbox head, Phil Spencer a few days ago over on Twitter and Phil was having absolutely none of it.

Phil Spencer

It seems like Phil had a great time playing the recent Bandai Namco release, Little Nightmares and sent out a tweet approving of the game in response to the developer proudly boasting of their review scores.

You’d think this to be nothing more than a simple exchange of one industry person congratulating other industry folks on a job well done. Hugs all around, no? Not if you’re a champion for your console of choice! Little Nightmares happens to be multiplatform which means people of every creed from PlayStation and Xbox to the mighty PC can play the game and love it and apparently, an Xbox Exec supporting a multiplat via Twitter equals a conspiracy. Twitter user @JRPyznar (Horizon Zero Flaws… you’re not trying to hide any bias, at all, right?) wasted no time ripping into Phil thinking that somehow the score difference between consoles on Metacritic had something to do with Phil’s support.

Phil just likes games. Phil didn’t really want to argue. Phil kept it simple in his response.

Of course, voices of support from the more level-headed folks in our community (and all of you reading, I’m sure!) were quick to point out that a good game deserves to be recognized no matter what platform it’s playable on. Can’t say that we here at COGconnected would disagree with that. We love games… full stop. Phil’s response to one tweet, in particular, put it all in perspective shutting down the Twitter troll in short order. It’s just a shame that said troll wasn’t tagged in the tweet so he knew it!

Well done, Phil and we couldn’t agree more. Get out there and play amazing games, readers and keep supporting all those hard working devs out there that work diligently to bring you unbelievable experiences.
