Dark Horse Comics Gives A First Look at Bioware’s Mass Effect: Discovery Comic

Mass Effect: Discovery Will Take Fans Further Into The Andromeda Initiative

Bioware has a great relationship with Dark Horse comics and it looks like this will continue in 2017! Because of this, when Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21st, Dark Horse will release the accompanying comic expansion Mass Effect: Discovery on April 12th.

Mass Effect: Discovery’s story is being put together by Andromeda creative director Mac Walters, lead writer John Dombrow, and Mass Effect: Foundation’s writer Jeremy Barlow. In addition to the upcoming comic, Dark Horse will also release The Art of Mass Effect: Andromeda on March 21st, which features concept art of the game. Walter’s shared some of the processes that go into making comics based on a video game:

“As we bring the Andromeda galaxy to life, we realize that there are many untapped stories that could be better told through comics. These stories give our fans a more in-depth understanding of the motivations of the explorers making that journey, from their perspective. Our creative partnership with Dark Horse goes all the way back to Mass Effect 2 and we are excited to expand that partnership within the Andromeda galaxy.”

As far as Discovery goes we know the comic will be following an undercover Turian soldier in the Andromeda Initiative, named Lieutenant Tiran Kandros. The official excerpt from the website reads “A young Turian military recruit goes undercover in order to infiltrate the mysterious Andromeda Initiative—and ultimately retrieve a scientist who’s made a potentially devastating discovery.” Polygon was able to get a few first look images of the comic and it looks pretty interesting. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments.
