Call of Cthulhu and Vampyr to be Released Fourth Quarter, 2017

Two Highly-anticipated Horror RPGs get an Official Release Window

Since Focus Home Interactive has updated their web pages, we’ve learned that two of their upcoming games, Vampyr and Call of Cthulhu, will released during Q4, 2017. That is, by the end of the year we’ll see horrific lore of new IPs delivering horror RPGs in the vein of Bloodborne. But each is its own realm of gameplay, progression, and lore.

Vampyr

As we’ve learned through recent trailers and press releases, Vampyr is a game set in 1918 London. Players must adapt to the new contraction of vampirisim(as the title suggests) and walk the moral line between blood feeding and temperance. However, since the only mode of growth is through feeding on humans, advancement becomes tricky. As a wartime doctor, you must reconcile between new instinct and old oath. This is the path set by developer Dontnod, building protagonist Jonathan Reid with a dual nature that can only be unraveled by player choice.

Moving on to Call of Cthulhu, all our coverage thus far points to a mystery RPG set in the Cthulhu mythos. Players must navigate as a detective in Darkwater island. What begins as a missing person’s case turns into a slow descent into madness as you discover more of the island’s secrets. You can obtain a shuttering glimpse in the trailer released earlier this year. Developed by Cyanide Studios, makers of Blood Bowl and Styx, players get a chance to interact with H.P. Lovecraft’s world like never before. But what awaits you may just change you.

Call of Cthulhu Vampyr

Expect both games to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. We’ll keep you updated on Focus Home Interactive as more news arrives. Following Call of Cthulhu, Cyanide recently announced Werewolf: The Apocalypse, presents another horror RPG to come some time after. We are excited for the gameplay and horror to come. But what are your thoughts? Comment down below and let us know what your anticipation for Vampyr and/or Call of Cthulhu
