Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series Confirmed!

Guardians of the Galaxy Confirmed at the Game Awards

In 2015 Marvel and Telltale announced a partnership for a game release in 2017, and last month rumors ran rampant when new information surfaced that this game may be Guardians of the Galaxy. Well, it is no longer a rumour as Telltale announced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series in a world premiere trailer at the Game Awards tonight!

While no exact release date has been announced, it will launch some time in 2017 and will span five episodes. The series will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices.

Given Telltale’s previous work, most recently Batman: The Telltale Series, it’s likely the Guardians of the Galaxy game will be an interactive drama featuring a heavy focus on choice. Here’s how Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner describes it: “In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.”

Tonight’s reveal comes just in time for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which hits theaters in May of next year.
