Visceral Platformer ‘Feist’ is Playdead’s ‘Limbo’ on Steroids and it Drops for PS4 and Xbox One on Dec 13

Feist Brings its Platforming Savagery to PS4 and Xbox One on Dec 13th

When you take a first look at Feist it’s impossible to ignore the very obvious inspiration of Playdead’s, Limbo. It’s silhouetted foreground with fluid motion is beautiful to watch in action but apart from that aesthetically pleasing similarity that’s where the similarities end. Limbo was a walk in the park compared to the visceral action that developer Bits & Beasts is looking to throw your way. After a successful PC release in 2015 it’s finally hitting consoles for a mere $10 on December 13th.

Feist has actually won multiple awards and is a beautifully handcrafted action game. It follows the story of a fragile little fur creature and its desperate attempt to rescue its mate from the clutches of a pack of malicious predators. The journey to the heart of a mysterious forest soon becomes a savage and merciless fight for survival as everything in this mesmerizing but deadly environment wants to eat you.

The vivid world of Feist is brought to life by a highly dynamic and emergent gameplay. All elements interact with each other and produce unpredictable interactions. Enemies are armed with a complex AI and chase the player with the physical intensity of wild beasts – reminding him of how small he is.

It’s interesting to know that the Swiss studio, Bits & Beasts actually started on Feist back in 2008 and the game pre-dates Limbo. While many would say this is inspired by Playdead’s gem, perhaps they’ve got it backwards and Playdead was inspired by them! There’s clearly room for both in your life, though, especially at that cheap $10 entry fee. Keep it locked to COGconnected for a full review of Feist early next week.
