The Last of Us Part 2’s Accessibility Features and Gameplay
It’s easy for many of us to take gaming for granted: simply pick up a controller and play. Many much beloved games however can be a struggle for those at one form of disadvantage or another. Be it an issue with colorblindness, clarity of eyesight, motor function, or any number of reasons, some gamers unfortunately miss out on the opportunity to experience these games. The Last of Us Part 2 went above and beyond with its accessibility features, making it viable for all gamers to continue the harrowing tale of Ellie in the post-apocalypse. We put together a video to showcase some of these features and it is truly inspiring to see the efforts they went to so all gamers could enjoy. Just some of the included accessibility options are a magnified HUD, changing the color and background, magnification and color of subtitles, audio cues for objectives, and so many more. The Last of Us Part 2 is set 5 years after the events of the first game and sees Ellie band together with other survivors as they try to continue their life in the post-apocalypse. On top of the Cordyceps fungus infected humans which have created terrifying mutants, the survivors must now contend against a mysterious cult. The game blends crafting, stealth, and survival aspects as well as introduces guard dogs as a new enemy – able to track Ellie based on her scent.
