Just Cause 4 Video Review
With so many open world games being epic narratives that explore the very soul of their protagonist, Just Cause has always been a franchise to go the other way. Best described as a classic action B-movie series, Each successive game has added more and more to the sheer insanity and chaos with the adventures of Rico Rodriguez. Just Cause 4 had a lot to step up to, given that the previous title introduced the wingsuit, stellar DLC content including the powered wingsuit, and a truly gorgeous world to explore. How could they possibly compete? By making the weather itself a weapon against The Scorpion. It’s an interesting notion, but just how well did Avalanche Studios pull it off? Check out our video review below to find out.
Just Cause 4 is the latest entry in the franchise, following the story of Rico Rodriguez. Rico has yet again found himself on a fictional island ruled with an iron fist by a terrible dictator who needs to be overthrown. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is, and to be honest it’s getting to be a pretty tired narrative. The Just Cause franchise has not been built on a strong narrative, instead relying on it’s over the top gameplay, action-movie quality stunts and serious of explosions to carry the game. While this worked in the past, Just Cause 4 is unfortunately overrun with bugs, glitches, and a clunky UI that seriously hinders the potential of the game. It also suffers from an identity crisis, not entirely sure if its meant to be a serious dramatic venture or over the top explosions with unrealistic ragdoll physics and Michael Bay quality explosions.
Just Cause 4 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more information check out the game’s official website.
