With yearly iterations of sports games getting a grilling from fans and critics, EA Sports have had a turbulent year. Blasted for not developing meaningful alterations and for making microtransactions a cornerstone in their most celebrated modes, EA Sports are going have to do something to revive languishing franchises. Is EA Sports NHL 21 the first to make that giant step forward or is it another slip?

Although sports games come decorated with a range of modes, it all boils down to one thing: gameplay. What is it like when you get on the ice? Does it faithfully replicate the buzz and intensity of its real-life counterpart?
