DOOM: Crush the Cyberdemon
With the new DOOM comes some new (or returning) bosses to take down. They’re not easy, so here’s a quick guide with our tried and true methods for defeating them without much trouble. Let’s get going on the Cyberdemon! (Hint: Use the BFG. Use it a lot.)
The first half of this fight is going to be a lot easier than the second half, so don’t let the boss fool you. Start by backing away and circling around the Cyberdemon to avoid his basic projectile attack. This should keep you away from him whenever he charges as well, meaning you only have to watch out for three attacks: slash, air strike, and beam. When he starts charging his beam, keep moving in whichever direction you were already going and then move or jump the opposite direction when the targeting system turns yellow. Jump over the slash attacks; they’re pretty easy to dodge in the first form. For air strikes, look for a safe location between the target circles that dot the ground and you should be fine. Once you deal enough damage, you can run up and perform a glory kill which takes you to phase two.
The second half of this fight is much harder, but if you’ve been saving up your BFG ammo it’s a piece of cake. Right off the bat, hit the Cyberdemon with the BFG. This does a lot of damage but what you’re really trying to do here is stun him – when you’re stuck between the rocks the boss summons, it’s a lot harder to dodge his attacks as you want to remain mobile during the fight – and try to put out as much damage per second as possible. While he’s stunned, hit him with everything you’ve got. The only other real difference in the second phase aside from the rocks is the slash attack. It now hits three times, but you can avoid the projectiles by jumping and ducking. Just make sure you don’t double jump by mistake.
