LEGO Voyagers Review
LEGO holds a special place in the hearts of many. Whether it’s the childhood joy of crafting fantastical worlds or the satisfaction of assembling complex models from a beloved series, the iconic blocks run parallel to our journey through life. After successfully transitioning into the virtual realm with Star Wars and Marvel games, LEGO has begun experimenting with its formula, appealing to its diverse fanbase with titles such as Bricktales and 2K Drive. Developed by the team behind A Builder’s Journey, Voyagers seeks to bring the philosophy of the toy manufacturer into the interactive space while delivering a heartfelt co-op adventure. Will this be the perfect build, or will it come up a few bricks short?
You and your partner play as a red or blue 1×1 brick. Living on a cozy, charming island, you sit together to watch a rocket launch in the distance. But when the scientific marvel malfunctions, its remains scatter across the island. Determined, the two of you set out to collect the pieces and build a rocket of your own.
What follows is a touching adventure filled with cooperation and creativity. You and your partner must work together to navigate the world, solving puzzles that are simple yet memorable. It’s remarkable how much character these little blocks convey without a single word of dialogue. Their personalities shine through action, and in turn, their bond strengthens. That connection mirrors the one you build with your co-op partner, as both of you playfully shape your journey through this beautiful world.
Better Together
Communication is at the heart of the adventure as you must work together to overcome the range of challenges you encounter. Block-based conundrums require you to use bricks scattered throughout to create a path to your destination. There’s a warm comfort in selecting bricks, rotating them, and placing them just right to build a small structure to progress forward. While simple, the tasks perfectly capture the satisfying, tactile play synonymous with LEGO in the virtual realm.

The deeper you get into the adventure, the more varied the puzzles become. Certain bricks carry particular properties which result in the ability to power up units and magnetise to areas. The most interesting of these puzzles is when you are required to manoeuvre a vehicle. One player will control the forward motion while the other focuses on the left and right. This forces cooperation as you navigate the area in order to overcome the challenges in your way. Voyagers consistently offers opportunities to engage with its world, bringing an authentic, childlike sense of joy that makes it a perfect game for families.
Light platforming makes up a portion of the game. As you traverse the area, you’ll see studs protruding that you can connect to and shimmy along. This system works for platforming segments where single bricks create a dangerous path to your destination. Due to the snap feature, you can jump in the direction of the block and connect to it, making these moments a simple affair. If you do fail to make the jump, you respawn instantly, allowing you to quickly try again.
Beautiful Bricks
While there is a lack of challenge in the short adventure, the game manages to capture the spirit of LEGO like no other game I’ve played before. The art direction is incredible, with each diorama area translating the beautiful simplicity of the plastic blocks. Natural lighting helps to make green forests look rich with life, whereas the reflections on tiles represent the metallic industrial factories perfectly. Backing your journey is a beautiful, tranquil soundtrack, keeping you at ease and fostering a stress-free adventure. The rhythmic beats rise at times, adding a playful energy to the experience. Together, they create a truly wonderful presentation that feels both charming and effortlessly engaging.

LEGO Voyagers is a delightful adventure that tells the story of two 1×1 blocks. Even without dialogue, it crafts a touching narrative that resonates with players. Each area is beautifully designed, inviting you to tinker with the world, build structures, and overcome the challenges that stand in your way. Puzzles emphasize communication, as you work together to control vehicles and navigate each space. The result is a truly wonderful experience that captures the spirit of the brick-based toy like no other.
