Make Indies a Big Deal
One of the Xbox 360’s biggest strengths was how they leveraged downloadable indie titles. Microsoft helped spotlight indie games like Limbo, Trials HD, and many others through their Summer of Arcade promotion. That type of push ended in 2013, and since then Sony has become the preferred platform for indie developers. Microsoft still have managed to get a few major releases early (Superhot, Inside and Thimbleweed Park come to mind), but they haven’t made these releases into the big deals they should’ve been. With Capybara Games’ Below being published by Microsoft Studios, this gives Xbox a second chance to change how they present these games. Microsoft should give Below some stage time, and make ID@Xbox a bigger deal going forward.
Oculus Support
While it’s known that Project Scorpio will support virtual reality, Microsoft hasn’t talked much about specifics. A major get for Scorpio, and one that could help Microsoft instantly rival PlayStation VR’s current line-up, would be Oculus Rift support. The two companies already have a healthy working relationship, with Xbox One controllers being bundled with the device, and Oculus has some of the best VR games as exclusive titles. It’s a relationship that would work well for both companies, with Microsoft getting the upper hand in terms of console VR, and Oculus widening their reach to the console market.
